I was so totally not aware that people didn’t know that being sorted into Houses was a real thing in UK schools. It’s not something made up just for the Harry Potter world, it’s a real schooling system, I was in the St George House at my school and everyone had the same attitude to Prefects as everyone in the HP world did to Percy Weasley I can assure you.
guess this is the ideal post to mention that when i went to an all girls school (a wonderful experience for a nonbinary kid i can assure you 🙄) the houses were named after birds, which wouldn’t have been a problem if my house hadn’t been called blue tits
I need you to know that I had just taken a mouthful of cake when I read this, and I chocked on it and then sprayed it out of my mouth, and all told, it was MOST undignified
